Free Press: Fake News, Infotainment or a Bulwark for Democracy
After a brief description of the intent and history of the First Amendment, three key issues that are the basis of freedom of the press will be discussed: prior restraint, government control of press content and reporters’ rights. An assessment will be made on whether Thomas Jefferson’s statement “where the press is free and every man able to read, all the safe” is still true.
