The ISU Planetarium Presents: Ring World!
Event Description
The Illinois State University Planetarium is excited to present Ring World!, running weekends from September 1 through September 16. Show times are Fridays at 7:30 PM and Saturdays at 2 PM and 7:30 PM.
After a nearly seven-years journey, the two-story Cassini-Huygens spacecraft began orbiting Saturn on July 1, 2004. Today Cassini continues to explore Saturn and its moons, during the spacecraft’s extended mission. Meanwhile, the Huygens probe soft-landed on Saturn’s largest moon Titan on January 14, 2005.
NASA plans a fiery end to Cassini by plunging the spacecraft into Saturn’s atmosphere on September 15. Thus, we look back at this incredible mission in an encore presentation of Ring World, narrated by Star Trek’s John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox on Star Trek: Enterprise) – now in full-dome video. We also look at a few mission highlights and a tribute to Cassini.
Admission to the ISU Planetarium is $4 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-12 and seniors, and $2.00 for children ages 3-4. Tickets may be purchased in the Planetarium Gift Shop, next to the Planetarium, beginning 20 minutes before each show.
The ISU Planetarium is located under the white domed roof at the eastern end of Felmley Hall of Science Annex. Felmley Hall is located on the northeast corner of the ISU campus at the intersection of College Avenue and School Street.
Free parking for the weekend programs is available a short distance from the ISU Planetarium in University parking lot F-67, located on the east side of School Street.
