Sports in the Dark
Sports In the Dark is an interactive and engaging way to learn about the culture and capabilities of people with blindness, deafblindness, or low vision! Attendees are blindfolded and teamed-up to play goalball, blind hockey, blindfold races, blind orienteering, and beep kickball. The event’s featured guest is U.S. Army Veteran Steve Baskis, who lost his vision while fighting in Iraq. As a result of his injuries, Baskis started the Blind Endeavors Foundation to help educate others, conduct research, and make people aware of what is possible when faced with adversity.
The cost to participate is $5 for students and $7 for all others. Cash or credit card payments are accepted at the door.
The event is organized by the Braille Birds student organization and the College of Education. proceeds support the philanthropic activities of Braille Birds. For more information, contact Assistant Professor Olaya Landa-Vialard at 438-8986 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
