The week will start out on free food  in the Circus Room, BSC at from 12pm-3pm on February 11th. FOSSIL CAPITAL AND REVOLUTIONARY AFFECT ON NATURAL GAS AND POLITICAL FANTASY IN BOLIVIA

Dr. Bret Gustafson, Associate Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology, Washington University Dr. Gustafson will explore the contradictions within a revolutionary government. Indigenous President Evo Morales leads a progressive Bolivian government which is largely funded through natural gas extraction.  This provokes a range of deeply un-revolutionary impacts such as the displacement of indigenous populations and the degradation of the environment. The question of how these two contradictory patterns can be reconciled will be discussed.

Art in Action: Leading Community Art Projects with Vulnerable Youth

Illinois Art Station invites artist Joel Bergner, co-founder and co-director of Artolution and muralist, to teach artists, educators, and community members in organizing and facilitating community based public art projects. The workshop will cover Artolution’s methodology and techniques for guiding youth in the design and painting of their own mural. Fine Arts Adventure Camp

Learn, experiment and play for a week-long creative extravaganza of drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media making! Students will register for the whole day, and the day will be split into 3 fine arts classes + lunch. There are two age levels (6-8 year olds are in one class, 9-10 year olds are in the other class) so there will be two teaching artists there leading the class every day, Monday-Friday.
