The Illinois State Planetarium seats approximately 110 visitors. The planetarium offers great shows at very low prices.

More than 250,000 visitors have enjoyed the planetarium since it opened in 1964. The planetarium has a yearly audience of around 15,000 visitors.

Dr. Carl Wenning Explores a Reversal of the Earth’s Poles

The Earth’s magnetic poles periodically reverse, with north becoming south and south becoming north. This has happened roughly every 200,000 to 300,000 years throughout much of our planet’s history.  However, it has been more than twice that long since the poles last reversed.
Illinois State University’s Dr. Carl Wenning explores this fascinating topic, along with what an overdue pole reversal means for civilization and life on Earth.
